Our Club’s facilities - What we can do for you on shore
All of the social spaces at the Club are easily accessible.
Mainly for Members - Our Clubhouse and bar which is the hub of the Club and which is open during weekday evenings and longer during weekends - cosy in winter, light and airy in summer, plus we are able to spread outside as well. The bar stocks most of the things that you would expect to find including some very good reasonably priced wines, and some real ales which are very popular. When we have other events or functions on site, this area is mainly for Members so that guests at functions can enjoy their own space.
The lounge can be used for meetings, courses and small other gatherings outside normal opening hours and can accommodate up to 90 people with a mix of informal seating and standing space, or more seated in rows.
The Cavern and Marquee - We have refurbished The Cavern and this along with our marquee provides a very versatile space for many kinds of activities. We hold the larger dinners there, use it for meetings, including the AGM, for courses, and we can use it as an additional lounge and bar either as well as the main clubhouse, or separately for functions such as Class dinners, prize givings, or wedding receptions. The space is flexible and the uses are numerous, with or without the bar.
The marquee is lined on three sides, with an atmospheric stone wall forming the fourth side, and has large doors onto the apron which can be opened or removed in summer to allow free flow from inside to out. A stage or band area can be created along with a dance floor if required as the space is fully carpeted. Seating at round tables can accommodate up to 125, and more in rows for a meeting or similar. Others options are available. Sound and projection systems can be available.
The Cavern is part of an old stone building, which forms a versatile and intimate space suitable for all the things which might happen in the marquee, either added to that space or as a stand-alone for smaller events. Its timber floor and white painted walls, where some local artists' work is hung, have a completely different feel to the marquee and make an interesting contrast. The Cavern also has a full bar which when not in use is shuttered but opens to show a nautical themed area and can serve both the Cavern and Marquee. The Cavern capacity is limited as escape is via the Marquee and thus numbers are limited to the capacity of the Marquee. Sound and projection systems can be available.
Catering - Having considered the spaces and bar service, catering is next and there are a number of options available depending on your requirements – BBQ, in house catering, outside caterers – we can accommodate most subject to capacity both in guest numbers and the capabilities of our kitchen.
The Club has two large BBQs which you can hire for your own use on site, or we can cook for you. These are normally sited in front of the marquee with tables and chairs inside and outside the marquee for guests though formats are available depending on numbers and needs.
We can offer food from sandwiches and canapés to a full multi course dinner. Menus, service and costings are subject to discussion. Outside caterers use the Club kitchen to prepare or simply finish their food prior to service, and this again is subject to discussion.
Come and visit and talk with us - we are happy to show you the Club and what it can offer you, and to talk about what you might need.
