Opening the Club & Bar - New Procedures

Dear Members


We hope you are all keeping well and safe.


You will no doubt know by now that we have been given the go-ahead to re-open the Club and Bar, welcome news for many of you!  We plan to open from 12.00 on Saturday 4th July and are very much looking forward to seeing our members enjoying a drink again!


However in order to facilitate this we have had to make a number of changes to the way in which we normally operate and ask all of our members to follow our new guidelines.  These are being implemented to keep you and our staff safe.


Initially the Bar will only be open Fridays & Saturdays from 12 – 9pm and Sundays 12 – 6pm.  As we settle in to the new routines this may be extended and we will keep you posted regarding opening times.


The Club will be operating to 2m social distancing, in accordance with government guidelines, max 6 people in a group and we will only be using the outside areas - the concrete apron, covered  terrace and top terrace.  In addition the marquee will have some tables undercover (the sides will be open).  Please check the weather if you are coming down!  If we have a really bad weather forecast, the bar will not open and if it looks like being a bit chilly please dress appropriately.  We want you to be comfortable but we will not be able to allow people to sit in the main clubroom.  We ask that you do not move the outside furniture around.  It will be sited for maximum space usage within the guidelines we’re working to.


At present we will only be able to have one member of staff working behind the bar and will be operating a one-way system to and from the main bar.  You will need to follow the guides and keep the distance.  For now, the bar will be completely cashless so debit/credit/loyalty card payments only please and contactless wherever possible.  Loyalty cards can be topped up at the bar using debit/credit cards, but if you would like to top up your loyalty card using cash, you must do this through the office only.   There will be a full list of members and their loyalty numbers at the bar, but if you have it ready and can tell the staff when ordering, it will be helpful and save time.  We will be manually inputting numbers, not swiping the cards as before.


There will be a protective screen at the ordering/payment point and then drinks can be collected from the far end of the bar.


To help minimise the contact between our staff and members, we are asking you to return all used glasses, bottles etc to a central glass collection point which will be a table alongside the entry/exit point of the Clubroom.  There are plenty of bins around so any paper rubbish etc can be disposed of safely.  Each table will have a cleaning caddy – a basket containing sanitizer spray, paper towel and hand gel.  Give your table a spray down when you arrive and leave (top up stock will be in the Clubroom if needed).  Hand sanitizer gel will also be at several points around the site.


We will only be open to Members but you will be able to sign in one guest (max 4 visits in accordance with Club rules).  You will be asked at the bar if you have any guests and the staff will make a note of the name and who is signing them in.  We don’t require any further details. We are being asked to keep a record of customers to support NHS Track & Trace in the event of an outbreak. If we are at full capacity, we will not be able to allow more people in until such time as there is sufficient room.


Only the outside toilets (Portacabins) will be available – gents, ladies and disabled (unisex) with one person only at a time.  Please wash your hands and sanitize any common touch points after use.  We have increased the cleaning frequency for our toilets, so if the gent/ladies is temporarily out of service for cleaning, please use the disabled toilet.  Showers will not be available until further notice and have been turned off.


We cannot allow any vehicles (apart from staff) on site at this time and the double gates will be kept locked (side gate access only).


There will be a member of the General Committee on site at all bar-open times for the next 4 weeks.  If you have any queries or suggestions, please speak with them or the Office.


This is the outline of how we need to operate for the time being.  There are lots of signs and guides on site, please read and follow them wherever possible.  We are doing our very best to keep our members and staff safe and to provide and do everything we can to keep our site COVID-free, but we can only make this work with your help, co-operation, patience and common sense.
